June RoundUp

Published: 20/06/2023 - gloucester

Wow it’s June already and there is still plenty in the diary.  I have added new additions in bold.  This is not the definitive list just things that might be of interest.

It’s been rather busy of late for the Branch.  Barbara re-committed her life to the Lord at Cirencester Baptist Church on Sunday 21st May.  It was a wonderful service.  A beautiful warm sunny day and a church filled with families and friends.

Brian has been using the world’s supply of ink penning articles for Chainlink.  There’s even one or two from Alexandra in the latest addition.

Brian, Stewart and Alexandra were at the MAG Rally: Farmyard Party at Helmsley Castle Estate.  The weather was incredible.  Sun, sun and more sun.  It only rained for about 10 minutes on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday there were reports of a storm rolling in, so the field was empty of bikes by 2pm on Sunday.  However, Holy Joe's was up and running 24/7 over the weekend.  We served many many people, had lots of conversations, hugged old friends from previous rallies and had a wonderful time.

There are many glory stories from the Farmyard Party.  I hope you are able to read them or hear them somewhere on your journey.

The Biker Service at Axminster on Sunday June 11 was well let’s just say always check before you travel.  Stewart, Sandra, Colin and myself (Alexandra) left oh so early in the morning to attend the Biker Service.  We were running a little late but managed to arrive in time.  There were bikers outside the church, so we knew we were in the right place at the right time.  Sandra and I led the charge as we needed to use the facilities before the service started.  We should have seen something was not quite right in the church but did not wait to process the lack of cutoffs as we dashed through to the back.

We began to wonder where the Bikers were as the service was about to start.  We could hear the bikes arriving (they were in fact leaving), but no one came in and then the service started.  Well, I tried but failed to contain my mirth.  There were only a few scenarios that would explain it.  1) the service was being led by the Bikers so they would be processing in.  No that was not it just the vicar and acolytes.  2) we had the service time wrong and the Bikers service would start after this one. No.  We checked the website and this was it. 3) we had the wrong place.  Not according to the flyer we were given at the Regional Meeting.

It transpired that we were a week late and the service had been held outside.

We had a good time anyway.  One of the ladies remembered us from the Regional Meeting, we had a very warm welcome and enjoyed a lovely chat over tea and biscuits before making our way home.

Feel free to double check the events posted below are still running before turning up.  We’re pretty sure they are.  If we hear any different, we will let you know.
